I am writing in regards to Sarah Purdy. I wanted to let you know of our experience of Sarah as our Midwife in August of this year. My wife and I agree that Sarah made our very long labour a very much more bearable experience. We wanted to have a home birth but after my wife had been in the initial stages of labour for six days the community midwife suggested we go into hospital. We feared that the whole process would be taken out of our hands if we did and we might be forced into making some decisions we didn’t want to. However Sarah very quickly put our minds at rest and told us very calmly what our options were. We decided to have an epidural and from that moment until our son was born Sarah’s professionalism and compassion made it a wonderful experience. Sarah kept us informed throughout that long day of the latest developments and made sure that we knew what it all meant. I remember a very relaxed feeling in the delivery suite because Sarah was so in control, we felt very comfortable with her at all times. After Jude was born we could not praise Sarah enough and we feel that if Sarah hadn’t done such a wonderful job, our disappointment at not having the birth of our choice would be far greater.
